Commonwealth Games Stamp Series
The Cayman Islands Postal Service released a set of stamps on 03 October, 2014 to commemorate the islands’ participation at the Commonwealth Games.
‘Pioneers II’ Stamp Series
featuring Captain Keith P. Tibbetts Sr., MBE, JP (1916-1996), Timothy E. McField MBE, Cert. Hon. (1928-1995), Miss Annie Huldah Bodden, OBE (1908-1989) and Hon. Ormond L. Panton, OBE (1920-1992) was released on Wednesday, 20 May.
Sister Islands Traditional Houses
he new Sister Islands Traditional Houses stamp issue offers a photographic reminder of the enduring style of the houses of yesteryear. The four stamp series was released on 10 June.
The Christmas 2013 Stamp Issue
The Christmas 2013 stamp issue, to be released on 5 November, will feature buildings of historical significance in the Cayman Islands. Each building will be decorated with Christmas lights and will be graced with a visit from Santa Claus.
HRH Prince George of Cambridge
The Cayman Islands Postal Service will release stamps on 31 October 2013, to commemorate the birth of HRH Prince George of Cambridge.
Shipwrecks – Anchors
The Cayman Islands Postal Service stamps titled Anchors was released on Friday, 2 August. This stamp issue features the anchors of local shipwrecks, illustrates the type of ship and provides a brief background of the circumstances of the sinking and the location. The stamps highlight the anchors of the Mathusalem (20₵), Topsy (25₵), Inga (25₵), Tofa ($1.50), Glamis ($2). The first day cover features the HMS Sparrowhawk. Anchors are an important detail because they are useful in identifying the size of a ship, since there is a specific scale of size to weight ratio between ships and their anchors. They also assist in identifying the date when a ship was built.
